History
The progress and development of human civilization has increased the importance of acquiring knowledge and demand for education. The root cause for these successes are education. This has been emphasised in the Quran and by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) many times.
There are two million Muslims living in Britain who are making progress in modern education. However, it is far more important to educate ourselves with Islamic education alongside modern education. If we focus only on worldly education and do not possess the Islamic values, then how are we going to develop our moral and ethical values? How would we justify the success of our education? Islamic education not only brings success in this world but also leads to everlasting success in the hereafter.
It is vitally important to equip our future generations with appropriate teachings of Islam, particularly in the Western society. As we can see, we are surrounded by immoral and unethical activities. To combat these, people have chosen the path to attain the knowledge of Islamic values and cultures.
Considering the above, it is important to train and equip Islamic teachers with necessary tools that will allow them to run and teach fundamental values at Mosques, Islamic Centers, Madrasahs and Schools. With these in mind, in 1998 Association of Islamic Teachers, UK was established to enhance Islamic Education alongside the National Curriculum. Since then, the Association has taken various steps to improvise the quality of teaching through seminars, training sessions and discussions. As a result, many organisations have come forward to join with us, Alhamdulillah! We believe, through this inclusion many of our Islamic Teachers will be more proactive in their teaching responsibilities. They will develop their innovative practices and will entail a stronger foundation in their profession. The unity of Islamic teachers and the cooperation of everyone else will allow us to go forward with trust, confidence and integrity In’shaa’Allah.
